Laidley Flood Mitigation
Laidley Flood Mitigation Works
The aim of this project was to extend the flood mitigation measures previously undertaken by Lockyer Valley Regional Council to provide improved flood mitigation for the residential and commercial areas of Laidley. This project is Stage 1 of several flood mitigation devices aimed at improving the flood resilience of the Laidley Community.

• Obtaining all relevant permits;
• Site clearing;
• Protection of existing services;
• Excavation and filling;
• Laying topsoil and turf, landscaping and soil amelioration (if ordered);
• Engagement of Geotechnical Engineer;
• Erosion and sediment control;
• Concrete Storm water installation;
• Provision of as-constructed data in accordance with regulatory authority requirements;
• All other work necessary to complete the contract in accordance with the drawings and this specification.

Outcome
Client and local stakeholders highly satisfied with timely completion of the project with minimal disturbance to local traffic and business operations. One of the complex environmental concerns surrounding these works was the disturbance of the bat colony located less than a few hundred metres away from the construction site. To minimize the disturbance, SEDL’s worked closely with the local environmental offices ensure the colony was protected from any excessive exposure by machines working on and around the site. As a result of this project our relationship with Lockyer Valley Reginal Council has presented us with opportunities on upcoming projects.

Yarranlea Solar Farm 'Early Works'
The removal and replacement of earthworks at 22a Zabel Road, Gatton, Queensland (Lot 1 on RP31186), the former Lockrose livestock dip site. The land was previously deemed unsafe as the dip used a lead, arsenate chemical for tick treatment of cattle which contaminated the soil. Lockyer Valley Regional Council undertook a substantial amount of soil testing and investigation to approve the project remediation to remove, dispose and replace with soil suitable for unrestricted use. Scope of Works Supply machines, trucks and operators to remove, dispose and replace contaminated soil. • Excavation and removal of contaminated soil approximately 500 – 750m³ • Segregation of contaminated soil for testing • Disposal of contaminated soil in compliance with an environmental authority for ERA57 • Protection of existing services within the site and on Zabel Road at the site entry/exit • Backfilling of site with clean fill that has been certified as acceptable for use on contaminated sites in accordance with MRTS04 General Earthworks specification • Reestablishment of grass cover over the site in the form of turf • Installation and Removal of sediment control and fencing Outcome Project was finished on time with the client and local community happy with result.
